Content 01Are You Facing These Sludge Disposal Cost Challenges?

  • Industrial waste disposal unit costs are rising, increasing the cost burden of Sludge Treatment.
  • The performance of your existing Sludge Dewatering Press has declined, and Moisture Content is not decreasing as expected.

AMCON’s Solutions

Through Sludge Treatment equipment including VOLUTE DUO™ / VOLUTE™, AMCON supports industrial waste disposal cost reduction by reducing sludge volume.

Whether you are considering a new installation or facing issues with the performance or Moisture Content of an existing dewatering press, we can provide Solutions tailored to your situation. Because industrial waste disposal costs are often calculated based on sludge weight or volume, reducing Moisture Content through dewatering may help lower hauling and disposal costs.AMCON Sludge Dewatering Presses efficiently remove water from sludge, helping reduce industrial waste volume and weight, lower hauling frequency, reduce sludge cake storage space, and contribute to lower CO2 emissions during hauling.

Cost Reduction Effects of Sludge Dewatering

Reduce Sludge Disposal Volume to 1/10 to 1/15 of Vacuum Truck Hauling

Most sludge hauled by vacuum truck or similar methods is water.
By dewatering the sludge in advance with a Sludge Dewatering Press, the weight and volume of hauled sludge can be greatly reduced, helping lower industrial waste disposal and transportation costs. For example, under the assumed conditions below, with vacuum hauling cost estimated at JPY 10,000/m³ and sludge cake disposal cost at JPY 20,000/t, the estimated annual cost reduction is approximately JPY 5.9 million.

ASSUMPTION DATA

Sludge volume: 720 m³/year
SS: 15,000 mg/L
Water content: 83%
Cake volume: 63,530 kg-wet

Reduce Sludge Disposal Volume to 1/10 to 1/15 of Vacuum Truck Hauling
Reduce Sludge Disposal Costs by Approximately Half by Replacing an Existing Cloth-Type Dewatering Press

In some cases, replacing an existing cloth-type Sludge Dewatering Press with VOLUTE™ has lowered the Moisture Content of sludge cake and reduced sludge disposal costs to approximately half.

Under the conditions below, assuming a sludge cake collection price of JPY 20,000/t, the estimated annual cost reduction is approximately JPY 2.3 million.

Toward Further Volume Reduction and Resource Recovery | Sludge Dryer and Sludge Dewatering and Fermentation System

In addition to volume reduction by Sludge Dewatering Press, AMCON can also propose the following equipment and systems depending on your objectives.

Sludge Dryer

Sludge Dryer

Sludge Dryer

When combined with VOLUTE™ Dewatering Press, the sludge cake can be dried into dried sludge with a Moisture Content of approximately 10 to 40%. Compared with using only a Sludge Dewatering Press, further reduction of waste sludge volume can be expected. Electric heat-source rotary kiln types and steam heat-source drum types are available.

Sludge Dewatering and Fermentation System Dell Compo

Sludge Dewatering and Fermentation System Dell Compo

Sludge Dewatering and Fermentation System Dell Compo

This system is designed for rural community wastewater treatment facilities serving 1,000 to 3,000 people. It converts Waste Activated Sludge with a Moisture Content of approximately 99% into fermented sludge for discharge. After fertilizer registration with the local municipality, the fermented sludge can be used as fertilizer or a soil conditioner. It is used as an option for local resource circulation of sludge.

Applicable to a Wide Range of Sludge Types and Industries

AMCON Sludge Dewatering Presses can handle a wide range of sludge properties and sludge types.

Sludge properties Organic sludge, inorganic sludge, oil-bearing sludge, sludge containing a large amount of fibrous material, etc.
Sludge types Waste Activated Sludge, coagulated and settled sludge, Dissolved-Air Flotation (DAF) scum, etc.
Selected Installations

Food and beverage manufacturing, livestock and meat processing, chemical manufacturing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, industrial waste treatment, recycling, machinery manufacturing and metal processing, laundry, paper manufacturing, building material manufacturing, crude oil extraction, apparel and textiles, commercial facilities, wastewater treatment plants, water treatment plants, rural community wastewater treatment plants, and more.Because sludge properties differ from customer to customer, we confirm actual dewatering results through a Sludge Sample Test before proposing suitable equipment

Turn Sludge into a Resource and Eliminate Disposal Costs

Ginoza Village Matsuda Clean Center in Japan

Vacuum hauling disposal costs were an issue, but the DELCOMPO Sludge Dewatering and Fermentation System dewatered and fermented the sludge into fertilizer. The sludge fertilizer was used on farmland, reducing sludge disposal costs to zero.

Common Questions

Can you simulate how much industrial waste disposal costs can be reduced?
Yes. After reviewing your current sludge discharge volume, Moisture Content, disposal unit cost, and other conditions, we provide an estimated reduction based on the results of the Sludge Sample Test.
Are chemicals also required for Sludge Treatment?
This depends on the target material, but Polymer Coagulants are commonly used in many sludge dewatering processes. AMCON can also propose Polymer selection based on sludge properties, so please feel free to contact us.
Can you support sites with limited installation space?
Please consult us. We propose equipment and layouts that take into account existing equipment interfaces and limited installation space.
