Removes Turbidity and Fine Particles
to Provide Stable Treated Water
Rapid Sand Filter
AMCON’s Rapid Sand Filter removes turbidity and fine suspended solids from raw water using filter media such as filter sand and anthracite. It is widely used for turbidity control in groundwater and industrial water, as well as pretreatment for downstream Industrial Water Treatment equipment. Built with durable stainless steel, it supports stable operation over the long term.
Main Applications
- Turbidity removal from groundwater and industrial water
- Cleaning process water
- Make-up water for hotels, baths, and pools
- Boiler feedwater
- Food and beverage production water
- Cooling tower make-up water
- Pretreatment for pure water systems and RO systems
Main Industries and Facilities
The Rapid Sand Filter is used across a wide range of industries and facilities that require Industrial Water Treatment.
- Electronics
- Chemicals, materials, and machinery
- Pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and medical devices
- Hospitals and healthcare facilities
- Hotels and commercial facilities
- Food manufacturing
Key Benefits
Turbidity and SS Control for Industrial Water
Efficiently removes turbidity-causing substances and fine suspended solids from groundwater, industrial water, and river water. The system provides clear treated water with stable quality, helping reduce the impact on product quality and appearance in food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and cosmetics manufacturing.
Expected Benefits
- Stable water quality
- Reduced variation between production lots
Protection for Downstream Equipment
Installed upstream of pure water systems, RO membranes, activated carbon filters, and other downstream equipment, the Rapid Sand Filter helps prevent clogging and performance loss caused by turbidity.
Expected Benefits
- Extended service life of membranes and filter media
- Reduced cleaning frequency
Advantages
Maintains Stable Filtration Performance Over the Long Term
Inside the unit, AMCON uses a specially designed collection and distribution strainer. Uniform flow through the filter bed delivers stable filtration performance and reliably removes impurities accumulated in the filter bed during backwashing. The design also reduces stress on the filter media, helping minimize media breakage, degradation, and clogging for long service life. The vessel is made of durable stainless steel and supports a range of raw water conditions, including groundwater and industrial water.
Filter Media Configurations Built Around Your Application
Based on water quality analysis performed in AMCON’s in-house laboratory, we evaluate the characteristics of turbidity and suspended solids (SS) in the raw water, treatment capacity, required treated water quality, and other conditions to provide the right filter media configuration and equipment specification. AMCON supports configurations from a single-layer filter sand bed to dual-media filtration with anthracite, building a filtration system suited to each customer’s application and operating conditions.
Designed for Limited Installation Space
The efficient design makes the equipment easier to install at sites where space is limited. Specifications can also be adjusted to match installation locations and access-route constraints.
Filter Media Replacement for Existing Systems
AMCON also supports filter media replacement for existing systems. Upon request, we provide integrated support from water quality analysis and filter media selection to replacement work and industrial waste disposal. If system renewal is required, AMCON can also provide solutions for new equipment.
How the Rapid Sand Filter Works
Turbidity-causing components and fine suspended solids (SS) in raw water are physically separated and removed as the water passes through the filter media inside the unit, providing clear treated water. AMCON’s Rapid Sand Filter passes raw water through a vessel filled with filter media such as filter sand and anthracite to produce clear treated water.
The filter media is selected according to raw water quality, target substances for removal, and the required treated water quality. In addition to filter sand alone, dual-media filtration with anthracite is also supported.
Impurities accumulated on the surface of the filter media are removed through periodic backwashing. After manual or automatic backwashing, the system returns to filtration operation and continues supplying consistent treated water.
Operating status can be monitored with instruments such as flowmeters and pressure gauges, and automatic operation can be supported according to operating conditions. Equipment can be selected from small to large models based on the customer’s treatment capacity.

Integrated Industrial Water Treatment System Solutions
AMCON provides optimized system configurations according to raw water quality and application, not only Rapid Sand Filters.
- Sand Separator: Removes sand and fine solids from raw water (pretreatment)
- Iron and Manganese Removal Filter: Removes iron and manganese from groundwater and industrial water
- Activated Carbon Filter: Adsorbs residual chlorine, organic matter, and odor components
- Ion Exchange Water Softener: Removes hardness components
AMCON provides integrated support covering water quality analysis, equipment selection, filter media selection, new equipment installation, removal and replacement of existing equipment, and After-Sales Support including filter media replacement.
Please contact us to discuss your requirements. We review the current water quality issues, application, requirements, installation location, and other conditions, then provide specifications suited to your needs. During raw water quality analysis, we confirm the components contained in the water and the target substances for removal, then determine the appropriate filter media and equipment specifications. After the specifications and auxiliary equipment are finalized, manufacturing, delivery, and installation are completed, followed by commissioning and handover.
