from Raw Water to Produce Softened Water
Ion Exchange Water Softener
AMCON’s Ion Exchange Water Softener removes hardness components (calcium and magnesium) from raw water using ion exchange resin. It helps prevent scaling and corrosion in boilers, cooling towers, and manufacturing lines, contributing to stable equipment operation and longer service life. Built with durable stainless steel, it supports stable operation over the long term.
Main Applications
- Boiler water and cooling tower water
- Cleaning water and dyeing water
- Food processing water and dishwashing water
- Metal parts washing water
- Humidification water
Main Industries and Facilities
The Ion Exchange Water Softener is used across a wide range of industries and facilities that require hardness control.
- Electronics
- Chemicals, materials, and machinery
- Pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and medical devices
- Hospitals and healthcare facilities
- Hotels and commercial facilities
- Food manufacturing
Key Benefits
Scale Control for Boilers and Cooling Towers
By removing hardness components, the system helps reduce scale adhesion inside piping, boilers, and heat exchangers. This supports thermal efficiency and contributes to longer equipment life.
Expected Benefits
- Reduced fuel and electricity costs by maintaining thermal efficiency
- Reduced equipment failure risk and longer service life
Improved Quality in Cleaning and Laundry Processes
Softened water allows detergents to work more effectively and helps reduce soap scum formation. It can contribute to improved washing quality and potential reductions in detergent and water consumption.
Expected Benefits
- More efficient rinsing process
- Prevention of soap scum residue on fibers
Improved Hygiene and Quality in Food Processing and Dishwashing
The system helps reduce limescale and water spots (white stains) left on dishes and cooking utensils, contributing to consistent washing quality. As food processing water, it can also reduce impacts on product flavor and color.
Expected Benefits
- Reduced scale adhesion in dishwashers and cooking equipment
- Reduced workload for hygiene management
More Precise Metal Parts Washing
The system removes hardness components that cause water spots (white marks) after washing. It helps provide the water quality required for cleaning precision equipment and electronic components.
Expected Benefits
- Reduced defect rate in downstream processes
- Reduced re-washing work
Scale and Foreign Matter Control for Humidification Water
The system removes hardness components that cause white powder (scale) around humidifiers and foreign matter contamination in cleanrooms. It contributes to stable operation of humidification equipment.
Expected Benefits
- Reduced risk of humidifier clogging and failure
- Maintained cleanroom environment
Advantages
Internal Structure for Uniform Filtration and Reliable Regeneration
Inside the unit, AMCON uses a specially designed collection and distribution strainer. Uniform flow across the entire resin bed disperses the load on each ion exchange resin bead and provides stable softening performance. During regeneration, the regenerant (brine) is also distributed evenly throughout the resin bed, reliably restoring the resin’s exchange capacity. This design reduces breakage and degradation of the ion exchange resin and supports long service life. The vessel is made of durable stainless steel and supports a range of raw water conditions, including groundwater and industrial water.
Automatic Regeneration for Continuous Supply of Stable Softened Water
Ion exchange resin gradually loses softening capacity as it continues to adsorb hardness components. AMCON’s softener restores the resin’s softening capacity through brine regeneration. Regeneration can be automatically controlled and performed according to preset conditions, enabling continuous supply of stable softened water.
Designed for Limited Installation Space
The efficient design makes the equipment easier to install at sites where space is limited. Specifications can also be adjusted to match installation locations and access-route constraints.
Ion Exchange Resin Replacement for Existing Systems
AMCON also supports resin replacement for equipment already in operation. Upon customer request, we can support water quality analysis, resin selection, replacement work, and industrial waste disposal. When equipment renewal is required, AMCON can also provide solutions for new equipment.
How the Ion Exchange Water Softener Works
Calcium ions and magnesium ions (hardness components) in raw water are exchanged with sodium ions held by the ion exchange resin as water passes through the resin. This process produces softened water with the hardness components removed.
As water continues to pass through the resin, its exchange capacity gradually decreases. To restore performance, brine (regenerant) is periodically passed through the resin to regenerate it. The regeneration cycle can be set according to raw water quality and water usage, and automatic operation is supported.
Operating status can be monitored with instruments such as flowmeters and level gauges, enabling continuous and stable softening treatment. Equipment can be selected from small to large models based on the customer’s treatment capacity.

Integrated Industrial Water Treatment System Solutions
AMCON provides optimized system configurations according to raw water quality and application, not only Ion Exchange Water Softeners.
- Sand Separator: Removes sand and fine solids from raw water (pretreatment)
- Rapid Sand Filter: Removes turbidity and fine particles
- Iron and Manganese Removal Filter: Removes iron and manganese from groundwater and industrial water
- Activated Carbon Filter for Dechlorination: Adsorbs residual chlorine, organic matter, and odor components
AMCON provides integrated support covering water quality analysis, equipment selection, filter media selection, new equipment installation, removal and replacement of existing equipment, and After-Sales Support including filter media replacement.
Please contact us to discuss your requirements. We review current water quality issues, application, requirements, installation location, and other conditions, then provide specifications suited to the customer’s needs. During raw water quality analysis, we confirm the concentration of hardness components, treatment capacity, and other factors, then determine the appropriate amount of ion exchange resin and equipment specifications. After the specifications and auxiliary equipment are finalized, manufacturing, delivery, and installation are completed, followed by commissioning and handover.
