Tequila Campo Azul is a company based in Jalisco, Mexico, dedicated to producing high-quality tequila by combining traditional production methods with modern technology.
Jalisco is widely recognized as the heart of tequila production, as its climate and soil conditions are ideally suited for cultivating agave, the key ingredient used to make tequila.

Their Problem
Previously, the customer did not use a sludge dewatering press. Instead, chemicals were added to the distillery wastewater generated during the production process to promote coagulation and sedimentation, after which the resulting sludge was removed by vacuum and disposed of.
However, as production volumes increased, this treatment method could no longer keep pace with the growing wastewater load, making it necessary to reevaluate the overall treatment process.
AMCON’s Solution
The most common process-flow of our VOLUTE™ is from raw water→wastewater treatment (generated sludge) → coagulation sedimentation layer → storage layer → dewatering machine. However, in this case, it was possible to treat the raw water directly through our VOLUTE DUO™ without having to go through the wastewater treatment flow. One of the reasons for this was that the raw water contained a large amount of fibrous material included in the manufacturing process. For the previous VOLUTE models, they had to be modified to treat such sludge, however, for our new model – VOLUTE DUO™, such modification have become unnecessary.

Results After Installation
- The number of vacuum truck sludge removal operations was significantly reduced, resulting in substantial savings in treatment and disposal costs.
- The manual task of transporting raw wastewater to the coagulation-sedimentation tank was eliminated, reducing the workload on plant operators.
- The customer also highly valued the user-friendly touchscreen control panel, which allows operators to easily monitor sludge and polymer flow rates, as well as the operating status of the equipment.
