Content 01On-Site Pilot Testing to Address Your Concerns Before Installation
- Verify dewatering performance, cake moisture content, treatment capacity, and polymer dosage under actual operating conditions.
- Evaluate an alternative Sludge Dewatering Press before replacing your existing equipment.
- Gain confidence in equipment operation and Maintenance before your first installation.
AMCON brings a Sludge Dewatering Press to your Wastewater Treatment facility so performance can be evaluated using your actual sludge under real operating conditions. In addition to verifying dewatering performance, our specialists explain equipment operation and Maintenance, helping you make informed decisions before installation.
What Is an On-site Pilot Test?
Unlike a Sludge Sample Test, an on-site pilot test is conducted under your actual plant conditions. Our specialists perform commissioning, optimize operating parameters and polymer dosage, and help you understand how the equipment is expected to perform after installation.
What You Can Verify During the Pilot Test
- Dewatering performance using your actual sludge
- Operating data, including moisture content, treatment capacity, and polymer dosage
- Ease of operation and Maintenance
- Recommendations for the most suitable equipment model and polymer based on your sludge characteristics and site conditions

Why AMCON’s On-site Pilot Test

Test Unit Selected for Your Application
We select the most suitable test unit based on your sludge characteristics and treatment requirements. Pumps, hoses, and other necessary equipment are supplied as a complete package, allowing the pilot test to begin promptly.

Installation Planning
We provide installation recommendations tailored to your site, including equipment layout and integration with existing facilities.

Sludge Sample Test
Before the pilot test, we perform Sludge Sample Test using your sludge to confirm dewatering suitability. The results also help us recommend the most appropriate equipment model and polymer.
Sludge Dewatering Press Features Verified Through the Pilot Test
The pilot test allows you to evaluate the clog-free design for oily sludge together with AMCON’s proprietary dewatering technology for low-concentration sludge. Performance can be verified using a wide range of sludge types from various industries.

Case Studies
Verifying Performance Before Equipment Selection Through a Pilot Test and Rental
Automotive Parts Manufacturer
The customer was planning to replace an existing dewatering press but required performance verification before introducing a different dewatering technology. Following an on-site pilot test using the customer’s sludge, the equipment was evaluated through a rental program before the VOLUTE™ Dewatering Press was selected.

Verifying Stable Performance Under Changing Sludge Conditions
Puerto Vallarta Wastewater Treatment Plant, Mexico
Daily variations in sludge characteristics and concentration made stable operation difficult. An on-site pilot test was conducted under actual operating conditions, allowing the customer to verify treatment performance. The evaluation confirmed stable processing capability and reliable performance despite changes in sludge characteristics, leading to the selection of the VOLUTE™ Dewatering Press.

How the Pilot Test Process Works
- 1. Contact Us
-

We discuss your sludge type, sludge volume, installation location, and project requirements. Please contact us using the inquiry form or by phone.
- 2. Sludge Sample Testing
-

We evaluate your sludge sample to verify compatibility with the AMCON Sludge Dewatering Press. Please send approximately 2–3 liters of sludge (3–4 liters for inorganic sludge) along with a shipping invoice and Safety Data Sheet. Sample containers should be prepared by the customer and will not be returned.

Common Questions
- What is the difference between a Pilot Test and a Sludge Sample Test?
- A Sludge Sample Test is conducted using sludge provided by the customer to evaluate dewatering performance and polymer selection under laboratory conditions. A Pilot Test is performed at the customer’s Wastewater Treatment facility using an AMCON Sludge Dewatering Press under actual operating conditions.
- How much does a Pilot Test cost?
- The cost depends on factors such as the pilot test duration and transportation requirements. Please contact us with your project details, and we will provide a quotation tailored to your requirements.
